What is Hyalase?
Hyalase is an enzyme (hyaluronidase) that breaks down hyaluronic acid, which means it is used to dissolve hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It is a safe and effective method for correcting or removing unwanted fillers.
When can Hyalase be used?
Hyalase is used if you want to remove or adjust a filler treatment that did not go as expected, if lumps have occurred, asymmetry has occurred, or if you have had a reaction to the filler. It can also be used for complications such as vascular occlusion (blockage of blood vessels).
How does the treatment work?
A small amount of Hyalase is injected into the area where the filler is placed. The enzyme begins to work quickly and gradually breaks down the filler. The treatment only takes a few minutes and the effect can be seen within a few hours, but complete dissolution can take up to 48 hours.
Does it hurt to get Hyalase?
The treatment may cause some mild discomfort, but we often use an anesthetic to make it more comfortable. Some people may experience a slight stinging or swelling immediately after the injection.
How long does it take for the filler to completely disappear?
Hyalase works quickly and begins to dissolve the filler immediately after injection. Usually the results are visible after 24-48 hours, but in some cases it may take longer depending on the amount of filler and the individual's body.
Can all the filler be removed at once?
In most cases, one treatment is sufficient to remove unwanted filler, but larger amounts may require more sessions. An individual assessment will be made during the consultation.
Can I refill with new filler after using Hyalase?
Yes, but it is recommended to wait at least two weeks before a new filler treatment to ensure that the skin has fully recovered and that there are no residues of the enzyme that can break down the new filler.
Are there any side effects with Hyalase?
Common, but transient, side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, and a slight burning sensation at the injection site.
