When can you see the results of botox?

A botox treatment does not give immediate results, but you do not have to wait long either. Contrary to popular belief, the agent itself remains under the skin for about a day. However, the relaxing effect the agent has on the muscles remains. After a few days, the results usually slowly and gradually begin to appear. The full results of the treatment are visible after about two weeks.

How long does a Botox treatment last?

Once you have had a Botox treatment, the final results will last for approximately three to six months. A general guideline is to repeat the treatment approximately three times a year to maintain the smoothing effect.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most people experience a stinging sensation when the needle goes through the skin, much like when you get a mosquito bite. The treatment itself is over in a short time and usually does not hurt. However, it is important to know that how we experience pain is very individual. Some people may find that a Botox treatment hurts more than others.

Are there any medical contraindications to the treatment?

You should not have a Botox treatment if you are hypersensitive to botulinum toxin type A, or any of the excipients in the preparation. If you have an infection at the site where the substance is to be injected, you should also avoid having the treatment until the infection has completely cleared up.

What side effects and complications can a Botox treatment cause?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin may become slightly swollen, red and slightly sore. You may also experience minor bruising, which is considered completely normal. This usually goes away in a few days. However, it is of utmost importance to consult a reputable practitioner when undergoing a Botox treatment. Botulinum toxin injected incorrectly can, in the worst case, lead to temporary paralysis of the face.

Is a treatment with Botox suitable for everyone?

You should not have a Botox treatment if you are hypersensitive to botulinum toxin type A, or any of the excipients in the preparation. If you have an infection at the site where the substance is to be injected, you should also avoid having the treatment until the infection has completely cleared up.

Will I be able to smile after the treatment?

A common misconception about Botox is that the face becomes expressionless and cannot be moved. It is true that the treatment relaxes the muscles, but today's treatments are performed by only concentrating the injection on the very small facial muscles. This means that facial expressions are not affected. You can therefore laugh and smile expressively even after a Botox treatment.

Are there other uses for Botox?

Botox is not only used to treat skin with wrinkles and lines. Even those who suffer from excessive sweating, so-called hyperhidrosis, can have a good effect from a treatment. Botox is also used to medically treat, among other things, migraines and overactive bladder. These treatments are usually provided by healthcare.

How is a botox treatment performed?

A Botox treatment involves injecting botulinum toxin, a so-called neuromodulator, into the small muscles in the problem area where wrinkles have formed. The substance causes the muscles to relax and the fine lines or wrinkles to be smoothed out and become less prominent.
